Skills

Extra abilities you can add to an agent, beyond what it can do out of the box.

What It Does

A skill is a self-contained package of instructions and tools that teaches an agent how to do something specific — generate a PDF quote, format a report a particular way, follow a step-by-step process unique to your business. Skills are how you extend an agent without needing a developer.

Why It Matters

Every agent starts capable, but general. Skills let you add exactly the abilities a particular agent needs for its job, rather than cramming everything into one prompt. You can pick pre-built skills from a marketplace, or bring your own.

Two Places to Manage Skills

CrabShack has two separate skill screens, and it's easy to land on the wrong one — they're both labeled "Skills" but do different things:

  • Each agent's Skills tab (Chat → [agent] → Skills in the sidebar) is a marketplace — browse a catalog of ready-made skills and install or uninstall them for that specific agent. See Browsing the Marketplace.
  • The top-level Skills page (under Build in the sidebar) is for custom skills — upload your own skill as a .zip file, or pull one from a private git repository. See Uploading a Custom Skill.
tip

If you're looking for a skill someone else built, use the agent's Skills tab. If you're installing one you (or a consultant) wrote yourself, use the top-level Skills page under Build.
