Triage Rules
What It Does
Triage rules decide which incoming emails trigger which automation. Set one or more conditions, and any matching email starts the workflow or process you've linked to that rule.
Conditions You Can Match On
- From — a specific sender address or domain, or any address containing certain text
- To — a specific recipient address, or any address containing certain text
- Subject — text the subject line contains, or an exact match
- Has an attachment
You can combine more than one condition — a rule only fires when all of its conditions match. Leave a rule with no conditions to match every incoming email.
If an email matches more than one of your rules, only the first matching rule (in the order your rules are listed) fires — an email doesn't trigger multiple automations at once. Put more specific rules above more general ones if you want them to take priority.
A bookkeeping business wants any email from @bigsupplier.com with the word "invoice" in the subject to kick off their invoice-approval workflow automatically. They create a rule matching From contains bigsupplier.com and Subject contains invoice, and link it to their Invoice approval workflow.
