Workflows
What It Does
A workflow is a multi-step sequence your agent follows automatically — send something, wait for a reply or a set amount of time, then branch depending on what happens. Workflows are designed to keep waiting reliably even for long periods (days, if needed) and pick up again the moment something happens, like a reply arriving.
How It Works
Every workflow moves through a series of named states, connected by rules like "when a reply arrives" or "after 5 days with no response." A workflow can wait, branch based on the content of a reply, send a follow-up, and eventually reach a finished state.
This example is modeled on the built-in Invoice approval template: it sends an invoice, waits for a reply, and has the agent read the reply to decide whether it means "approved," "rejected," or "needs a human to look at it" — following up automatically if nothing comes back within 5 days.
The "approved"/"rejected" states above come from your agent reading and interpreting a reply — not from a person clicking a button. If you want a real human sign-off before an action happens, that's what a Process is for.
Building One
Use the visual canvas in the Automations page to see and edit a workflow's states and the rules connecting them — see Building a Workflow. Most people start from a built-in template (see Workflow Templates) rather than building from a blank canvas.
Stopping a Workflow
Open a running workflow from the Automations page and click Cancel workflow to stop it. Cancelled runs are kept in your history for reference.
