Actions & Triggers
Triggers — What Moves a Workflow Forward
- A reply arrives — the workflow advances when a tracked conversation (like an emailed invoice) gets a response.
- Time passes — "after 5 days," "after 1 day," and similar timers designed to keep waiting reliably in the background.
- A manual event — you or an integration can signal a specific event to move the workflow along.
- A schedule — start a workflow on a recurring timer (see Scheduling).
- A matching email — start a workflow automatically when an incoming email matches rules you set (see Email: Triage Rules).
Actions — What a Workflow Can Do
- Send an email — from a connected mailbox, optionally threading onto the original conversation.
- Have your agent handle a step — hand a step to your agent to work on (for example, interpreting a reply and deciding which branch to take), rather than following a fixed rule.
- Update its own tracking information, count something, or log a note — small bookkeeping actions mostly useful for more advanced, custom workflows.
tip
The interpreting/branching steps in built-in templates (like deciding whether a reply means "approved" or "rejected") are handled by your agent reading the reply — you don't need to write matching rules for every possible phrasing.
